They just don’t make cartoons like they used to. Well now, one of TVs classic cartoon families is coming back to television thanks to one Mr. Seth MacFarlane. Yup, you read that right, the man responsible for Family Guy and American Dad is taking a stab at reinventing the classic caveman, Fred Flintstone.
The classic cartoon was originally on the air from 1960-1966, but has staying power launching two follow-up movies in 1994 and 2000. Apparently MacFarlane has always been a fan and has been pursuing this opportunity, finally inking a deal with Fox for 2013 – for a TV series and possible films.

How about this Flintstones cigarette commercial? Of course, this would never fly now.

Time has released its annual 100 Most Influential People list, and Justin Bieber, Chris Colfer and Bruno Mars are among its top pop culture nominees.
The magazine includes an essay by Bieber’s mentor Usher, who gushes over his 17-year-old protege. “From the minute I met Justin, I knew this kid possessed a certain confidence that only a star could have,” he wrote. “He was born a star. He knew what he wanted to accomplish; all he had to do was get everyone else to believe it.”
The R&B star continued, “Now, looking back at his incredible run, the reality of who he is and what he’s accomplished far exceeds anybody’s expectations of him. What’s interesting and will keep the world watching is that at the same time he’s having this incredible success, he’s like any other kid living a normal life.”
While we bet Colfer, the ever-so-humble ‘Glee‘ star and recent Golden Globe winner, was surprised to hear about his ranking on the list, one person was not. Dianna Agron said the 20-year-old “lives by extreme truth, speaking out against the epidemic of bullying that he, too, faced in high school.” She added, “The honesty that he infuses into his ‘Glee’ character, Kurt, leaves you reeling.”
Mars has dominated the charts in the last year with songs like ‘Nothing on You,’ ‘Just the Way You Are’ and the Cee Lo fronted ‘F— You.’ And if there’s one thing his No. 1 singles and Best Male Pop Vocal Grammy represent, it’s his influential reach. As friend and collaborator B.o.B said, Mars “has a musicality, a presence in his voice that I’ve never heard from anyone else.”
Bieber, Colfer and Mars share real estate on the list with the likes of Oprah Winfrey; Prince William and Kate Middleton; Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg; WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange; and President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Time’s 100 Most Influential People issue hits newsstands on Friday.
