I deserve today.

This morning, I slept in.  Then, I went out to breakfast with my wife.  After breakfast, we came home and I sat on the couch.  Five hours later, I’m still here!  I have chosen to be lazy today.

I deserve today.

On December 17, 2010, my wife and I flew to the East coast for the holidays.  Traveling isn’t easy.  I mean the airlines try to make things as comfortable as possible…ok, not they don’t.  The airlines are a business.  I get it.  The problem is, they might be the worst industry in the world when it comes to charging for extras and/or upgrading.

Did you know that there is an airline that actually has an advertisement that suggests that you spend about $50.00, you can have “five extra inches of room”.  Yes, you read correctly.  5 inches of extra room.

I skipped the extra fee and sat in my tiny little seat and flew to the East coast with my wife.  We hung out with family and friends.  There were laughs, smiles, arguments and fights.  For many people, spending time with family can be stressful!  If you can relate, guess what?  Guess what?  You and I are in the same boat!

After two weeks of happy, yet stressful times, we were set to leave on Saturday, January 1st.  Upon arriving at the airport, we found out that our flight was cancelled because of “flight crew” problems.  Oddly enough, this is the same reason that our flight was cancelled last year.  The happy woman at the check in counter tapped her fake finger nails into the computer keyboard and turned to us with a smile and said, “I can get you out on on the 4th”.

How’s that for awesome?  The flight crew has “issues” and the passenger (us), gets stuck for three days?  Are you kidding me?

After some back and forth bickering, I told her that I couldn’t go back on the 4th.  After some more discussion, our travel plans were changed.  In the end, my wife and I got back to California after a 16 hour travel day!

One week later?  I am home.  Sitting on my couch watching football.  I think it’s ok to be lazy from time to time.  Today?  It’s my time!

I deserve today!

Every generation has some sort of event that they live with forever.  9-11 was my generation’s event.  This is the one event that all of us will remember.  We’ll remember where we were when we heard the news.  We will remember watching it all unfold in front of us in real time.

I don’t feel it is necessary to say “never forget”, because that’s like saying “don’t forget to breathe today”.  Some memories don’t go away.  Time changes perspective on things.  After 9-11 it felt like the world was changed forever.

I specifically remember thinking “New York City will never be able to bounce back after this”.

As time went on, life slowly returned to normal in the sense that we all went back to our daily activities.  Those who lost people will never forget 9-11, but for the most part, they were able to pick up the pieces and keep on living. Like any mourning process, everyone takes a different approach and there is no right way to do it.

We won’t forget 9-11.  We’ll share our personal 9-11 story for years to come.  I won’t be posting a message of “never forget”, because I won’t forget.  I don’t need to post a message to everyone I know, because they won’t need a reminder to pause and reflect on the most dramatic and tragic day in my generation’s history.

I feel kind of sorry for my friend Jeff.  In the mid 90’s Jeff was my intern when I hosted a nighttime radio show.  Jeff moved to Hollywood to become a comedy writer and get into the entertainment industry.

You won’t know his name, but Jeff has worked behind the scenes on some classic reality shows like the Osbournes and the Newelyweds. He is currently working behind the scenes on Big Brother 12.

Jeff doesn’t share any sort of inside information with me.  The closest I have gotten to inside information is that he works incredibly long hours!  Two weeks ago, Jeff posted a status update on Facebook saying that he had worked a 17-hour day.

Jeff’s job, from what I understand, is to take all of the footage that is shot in the Big Brother house (24 hours a day, 7 days a week), and edit it together into a story that makes sense.  Like all reality shows, I’m sure he has to put the show together in way that makes some characters look like heroes and others like villains.

Why do I feel bad for Jeff?  The houseguests this season, are a very difficult bunch to make look good.  Again, I don’t have any sort of inside information, but it appears that the goal “behind the scenes” is to make Brendan and Rachel the “good guys”.

In my opinion, it’s not working!

Rachel is one of the most annoying Big Brother houseguests ever!  The more she wins, the more unlikable she becomes.  I can’t be the only one who is hating her more and more as every day goes on.  In fact, it feels like the Big Brother producers are trying to make Brendan and Rachel into this season’s Jeff and Jordan.

Once again, it’s just my opinion, but it’s not working!

In fact, while Jeff and Jordan spiked the ratings upwards last year, it wouldn’t shock me to see Rachel cause the ratings to go the other way.  She is just an irritating personality that isn’t fun to watch.  Again, I ask, am I alone?

How is somebody so horribly annoying getting the spotlight?  It’s simple!  She’s the best of the obnoxious and boring this season.  If Rachel left today, who would we be left with?  Let’s look at the rest of the female houseguests:

Kristen: I liked her better when she wasn’t talking.  The second she stared to speak up, she shot herself in the foot and is the frontrunner to go home this week.

Brittney: We saw her annoying side early this season.  While she is coming across nicer as of late, I will always remember her as one of the two “eye rollin’ bitches”.

Kathy:  Finally, someone who isn’t obnoxious!  That is a HUGE plus in my opinion,  Kathy’s problem?  She’s boring!!  If there is a woman in the Big Brother house this season that might grow on me, it’s Kathy.  She needs more screen time.

While I’m analyzing the houseguests, I might as well touch on the men:

Hayden:  Small mouth aside, he had a great thing going until he let his fling with Kristen get in the way of his game.  He’s a lucky man if he gets past this week.  He’s a strong player.  If the house were smart, he’d get the boot!

Lane:  Lane is this season’s Jordan!  He’s kind of doe eyed to the world!  He’s learning that there is more to life than just Texas.  His reactions are real and his personality is unique and entertaining.

Enzo: I really like Enzo.  He’s got street smarts.  Sadly, street smarts don’t help you in the Big Brother house.  If anybody is going to get blindsided by friends this season, it’s going to be Enzo.  Meow Meow.

Matt: I hope this self-proclaimed genius/puppet master goes home.  Did I really see him in the diary room talking about frustrated he is that the house couldn’t break up Brendan and Rachel?  You idiot.  You could have broken them up.  It was a 100% lock that if the house wanted one of them gone, you could have broken them up, but you BLEW IT!

Regan: I wish Regan got more screen time.  Every season, Big Brother casts a gay guy.  Every season, the gay guy has an awesome perspective on the house.  Regan is no exception, but he hardly gets screen time!!  This guy is funny.  Put Regan on TV more!

Brendan: This guy’s game will get much better the day Rachel gets the boot.  Rachel’s latest actions have put a huge target on her back and Brendan should be able to benefit from her stupidity!  Then again, he seems like an airhead.  Maybe the two were meant to be together.

There is my take on the house.  I think Kristen is going home this week.  I won’t miss her and her high pants and crappy attitude.  Next week, I hope the house goes after Rachel.  Then, I would go after Matt.

Samuel posted a comment and asked me why I didn’t bring up Pandora’s Box in my last blog.  I don’t have all that many thoughts on Pandora’s Box.  We don’t know the details yet.  What we know is that, after America’s vote, one houseguest is going to be offered the opportunity to become the new saboteur for the next two weeks.

The original plan for the saboteur was to play for five weeks and leave the house.  If the two-week saboteur offer comes with the catch that the player needs to leave the house at the end of the two weeks, who would be dumb enough to take the offer?  There are too many unknowns, at this time, for me to comment .

Tonight on Big Brother, we saw the first true signs of life in the house!  The houseguests may have called Andrew “Captain Kosher”, but my new nickname for him is “the Kosher Matchstick” because tonight he lit a fire!  Sadly, “the Kosher Matchstick’s” flame has already gone out.

I’d be lying if I said that the Big Brother show didn’t frustrate the hell out of me.  Early in the Big Brother game, houseguests are usually so scared to step out on their own that the game turns into a dull, plodding mess.  This season was no exception.  Without the occasional cattiness, everyone is playing nice with each other.

That all changed tonight.  Andrew, knowing he was most likely heading out the door, spilled a ton of secrets to the Big Brother houseguests.  At first, I was literally smacking my forehead because it seemed like the immediate reaction to Andrew’s speech was that he was lying about everything.  By the end of the night though, it was pretty obvious that Andrew’s words had the houseguests thinking.

The first sign was when Enzo asked the houseguests “who is talking about me”?  He said it like he was kidding, but nobody likes being made fun of.  Enzo is no different.  I’m sure he’s going to seriously question the sincerity of the people he thinks he can trust inside of the house.

The second, and most obvious sign the Andrew’s final words cut deep, was the reaction of Kristen.

(blog paused)

I just need to take a moment to say that I have made fun of Kristen for a few weeks because she didn’t say or do anything inside of the Big Brother house.  After seeing her “come alive” tonight, I wish I could have the old Kristen back.  This new Kristen is a bitch.

(blog unpaused)

Kristen got called out for her “relationship” with Hayden.  She reacted like the “other girl” when your man cheats on you.  (Not that I would know what it’s like to have my man cheated on, but you get the point)  She got loud.  She got sassy.  She got aggressive.  She got owned.

I’m not a huge fan of Rachel.  In fact, she might be one of the most annoying players this season.  Sadly though, I will take a giggly, jiggly bimbo (with brains), over a bitch….any day.  Tonight, Rachel got called out, over and over again by Kristen during the HOH competition.  Kristen was on a mission to take Rachel down, and out of the game.

In the end…Rachel won her second HOH competition of the week and she immediately put Kristen in her place.  This week is going to be interesting, and by interesting, I mean…catty, loud, obnoxious, etc.

Here is what I hope will happen this week.  I hope that Rachel puts up Kristen and Hayden.  I hope that Hayden goes home.  I actually like Hayden, but I want the “Brigade” to get broken up.  Plus, Kristen staying in the house=drama.  I like that.

Make your predictions now….who will be broken up first:

Brendan and Rachel

Hayden and Kristen

The Brigade

BLOG UPDATE!!!!!!!

How could I forget the biggest blow off in Big Brother history????  Brendan tells Rachel…”I love you”.  Rachel doesn’t reply!  In fact Rachel leaned back as if to say “slow down big boy”.

Instead of reading, or attempting to read the body language between “Brenchel”, I want to take a moment to say that I think it’s the lamest thing in the world to call your “showmance” a “relationship”.  When Rachel talks about about people getting in the middle of her “relationship” with Brendan, I want to throw up.  I’m really sorry Rachel, but the following are not true:

1) You are are not boyfriend and girlfriend

2) You are not soul mates

3) Brendan doesn’t realize it yet, but he doesn’t love you.

4) Outside of the Big Brother house, you two will annoy each other because it’s amazing how easy it is to break up when you can LEAVE!

5) You will both regret blowing a shot at $500,000 if either of you makes a move to save your love, instead of your game.

Enough said.  Thanks for reading this blog update!  I love you guys for reading this!

Big Brother has had some memorable players in past seasons.  Mark my words.  Matt is not going to go down as a memorable player.

This week, Matt had a “genius plan”.  Sorry genius, but you are an idiot.  If you want one of two people out of the game, you need to nominate both people.

Let’s rewind a bit.  If Matt had nominated Brendan and Rachel, one of them was going home.  Even if Brendan won the POV, he would remove himself from the block.  Kathy or Andrew would have gone up in his place and Rachel would have gone home.  Done deal.

There is nothing genius about what Matt did this week.  It’s so frustrating to watch the “Brigade” follow Matt’s lead.  Matt said “we just need somebody to throw us a bone”.   To quote my wife, “somebody did throw you a bone.  You won HOH and you screwed it up”.  I just hope that the subtle questioning of Matt’s “genius” leads to a split in the “Brigade”.

Am I alone when I say that we are three weeks into the game, and I still don’t have a strong favorite in the house?  If I had to pick somebody as my favorite, I’d go with Andrew.  He seems like such a nice guy.

With that said, nice doesn’t mean strategic.  Andrew’s “big move” at the end of the game appears to have put him in the line of fire for eviction this week.  He went from being the pawn, to the target in less than a minute.  I really hope he doesn’t go home this week, but he’s going to have to make some big time moves behind the scenes in order to stay.

Here is what I would do if I were Andrew.  I would try my best to throw Matt under the bus to Lane and Hayden.  If Andrew can convince Lane and Hayden that Matt is a weak link, it’s possible that they might want to keep Andrew around as a strategic partner.

If Andrew wins over Lane and Hayden, it’s possible that they may consider splitting from the “Brigade” and throwing Matt out on his “genius” ass next week.  If Andrew can convince Hayden, he’ll also get Kristen’s vote.  If he gets Lane, he’ll get Brittney’s vote because those two are house buddies.  If Andrew can get those votes, Kathy is gone.

I really don’t think that anybody else is worth swaying.  I don’t think Regan is going to vote to keep Andrew.  I don’t think Brittney or Kristen can be won over.  I truly believe that the impending implosion of the “Brigade” is the only way that Andrew stays in the house.

One thing to consider is that this is Big Brother.  Strategy aside, Andrew might simply get lucky.  The houseguests might realize that without him in the house there will be nobody to do the laundry and the dishes.

Hell, I’d keep Andrew in the game till the end!  By the way, isn’t it time that Big Brother installed a dishwasher??

Tomorrow night’s eviction should be interesting.  I really hope Andrew can stay.  I really would love to see Andrew take out Matt next week.

Till next time….Thanks for reading my Big Brother Blog!

Finally we have some life in the Big Brother house!  Sure, it was the (ever so lame) house meeting that brought tensions out, but I have been dying to see some of this season’s houseguests throw down.  In the end, the fight was fairly meaningless….or was it?

Matt made a deal to go up as a pawn. Regan was there to witness this deal take place.  Matt got caught, but denied everything.  Regan knows the truth.  Things are about to get interesting!!

At the 45 minute point of tonight’s episode, Monet was sent packing.  If I can be selfish for a minute, I have to admit that I am super happy that Monet is gone.  Forget that I have referred to her as one of the “eye rollin’ bitches”.  Forget that she’s been very nasty to other houseguests.  I’m happy to see her go, because every time I type her, I type Money.  I am always hitting backspace and changing out the y for a t.  My typo problem is more annoying than Monet ever was.  Yes, I just typed Money in that previous sentence.  No joke.

You may wonder how Brittney stays so thin.  It’s obvious.  She cries off the pounds.

Melinda wrote me an e-mail and told me to stop proclaiming to be a Big Brother know it all.  I never claim to be a Big Brother know-it-all.  I’m just a fan.  So Melinda, that’s a very nice high horse.  Can you please get down off of it?  Thanks.

Congratulations Kristen!  You did something in the Big Brother house!  All together now, “YIPPEE”!!!!  I was happy to see that Kristen stirred the pot and stood up for herself.  Also, in other breaking Kristen news, Hayden still thinks she’s hot.  The two were seen making out in bed while Andrew pretended to sleep.  Oh yeah, my Big Brother spy tells me….Kristen has a boyfriend at home in Philly!

The show ended with a surfboard endurance Head of Household competition that looked absolutely horrible.  Balance+cold water+wind+exhaustion=suck

If you want to know the winner of tonight’s Head of Household competition, I know what happened!  I will put the winner of the HOH competition down a bit on this page.   You won’t see it, UNLESS you page down a bit.  Ok?

Thanks for reading!  As always, feel free to comment and leave questions!  You can also leave comments/questions at www.facebook.com/radiowakeupcall or e-mail me:  Jason@endonline.com

Big Brother finally has me sucked in this season.  Before I explain how and what got my full attention, I need to rant a little bit.  While I am still a huge Big Brother fan, the show has been far from perfect so far, in comparison to past seasons.

I still think that the casting this season sucks.  The best example is Kristen.  If you are asking yourself “who”, that’s ok because in two weeks, Kristen has gotten about 2 minutes of screen time.  There is a lot of talk of “floaters” in the Big Brother house.  Kristen may actually be the first Big Brother house guest to be a floater in both the Big Brother house, and on our television screens.

Meow Meow.

Has anybody seen Kathy?  She must be hiding with Kristen.

Did Regan join the Brigade (stupid name for an alliance btw)?   Oh wait, The Brigade is Lane, Hayden, Matt, and Enzo.  Regan can’t join the Brigade because he’s gay.  Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell still applies in the Big Brother house.

Matt came up with an awesome strategy, right?  Give your wife an illness that involves the legs and feet because there is NO CHANCE that a PODIATRIST will be a follow houseguest!  I have to be honest, I am curious to see if that lie gets out to the other houseguests and how it Andrew spills the secret without coming across like a liar himself.

Ok, back to last night’s show.  I actually yelled out “NOOOOOOOOOO”.   Do you know when?  If you guessed that I yelled out “NOOOOOOOOO” when Rachel appeared to be ready to put Andrew on the block even though Matt offered himself up as a pawn, you would be correct!

You never vote out somebody, this early in the Big Brother game, who obviously doesn’t like you because you think they have changed.  Get them out when you have the chance!  When you wait on eliminating your enemies, you live to regret it in the Big Brother house.

There is something about Andrew that I like.  I feel like he has a chance to be a big player in the game if he gets deeper into the game.  If he can make it past the next two weeks, I think he will team up with one of the existing groups and make a run at winning the game.  I’m really glad that Rachel decided to take Matt up on his offer.

Who is going to go home this week?  I think Monet is done.

It takes five votes to get evicted tonight.  Matt already has the Brigade votes.  Lane, Hayden, and Enzo will vote for him.  Rachel and Brendan will stick together, putting Brendan’s vote against Monet.  For you Big Brother newbies, Rachel doesn’t vote because she is the Head Of Household.

Using my predictions, Monet already has 4 votes against her tonight.  Andrew was saved by Rachel.  One would think that he’d vote the way she asked him to vote out of loyalty.  If Andrew decides to vote out Matt, you’d think somebody else in the house would vote out Monet.  It seems like Monet and Brittney have spent a lot of time being “eye rollin bitches”.  Nobody likes “eye rollin bitches”.

Prediction, Monet goes home.  As of now, the only vote I see Monet receiving is Brittney’s vote.  If the house is going to vote out Monet, it’s quite possible that Brittney votes out her friend so as not to stand out.  If the house is planning another unanimous vote, this would be a great week for somebody to throw in that “who was that vote” to make the houseguests question each other.

Nominations were aired tonight on Big Brother.  Rachel had many different options, but I am happy to say that I was wrong with my nomination predictions (which you can read in my last BB blog). Rachel nominated both eye rollin’ bitches!

I know it’s mean to call Britney and Monet “eye rollin’ bitches”, but if there is one personality trait that I am not fond of, it’s people who roll their eyes when they don’t like something or somebody.  Eye rolling is one of the most obnoxious things a person can do.

Britney and Monet are eye rollers.  They also come across very spoiled.  I don’t know anything about Britney and Monet, but if I had to guess, they both get what they want most of the time.  Maybe I am reading them wrong.  I have a feeling that I’m not.

If nominations stay the same, I see Britney going home.  I think between the two eye rollin’ bitches, Britney is far more obnoxious.  Hell, we might even get another unanimous vote.

Onto other Big Brother business:

Is Matt giving geniuses a bad name?  His “paranoia strategy” appears to have been a dumb idea.  What’s next Matt?  “It’s my f**k you loser strategy, where I got up to the HOH and say f**k you loser!  That will keep me safe”!!

Kristen continues to be a Big Brother casting directors worst nightmare.  She’s dull.   How did she get on this show with her “outer shell that people need to break through to get to know me”?  Let’s all pray she doesn’t make it to the end.

Enzo:  Meow, Meow.  He got this catch phrase from the book “how to unlikable even when you are pretty gosh darn likeable”.

Lane has a nice beard.  Ok, really, that’s all I can say about the guy.  Step it up there cowboy, ok?

Andrew, tell them you are a foot doctor!!  It would explain why you are awkward in the eyes of the other houseguests!

Kathy, I know you didn’t want to be on slop for another week, but I gotta say….the lack of food as you looking pretty good!

Rachel and Brendon….get a room!  Jesus!  Oh wait, they have the HOH room!  Or do they?  Brendon is a have not this week.  That means he has to sleep in the have not room.  That means he can have sex with Rachel, but he can’t spend the night.  I hope she doesn’t feel as cheap as she looks.

I apologize for the negativity in this blog.  The houseguests this season are bugging me.  There isn’t anybody who is jumping out to me.  Where is this season’s Evil Dick, Jace, Dr. Will, Boogie, Janelle, Howie, etc?  I don’t know if there is anybody in that category this Summer.  That kind of bums me out!
